What IIDA is

Indian Interior Designers Association (“IIDA”, “we”, “us”) is a private, member-funded professional membership association for interior designers, design studios and design students in India. We operate as an enterprise registered under the Government of India’s MSME/Udyam scheme in Bengaluru, Karnataka (Registration No. 3345441789).

What MSME/Udyam registration means — and does not mean

MSME/Udyam registration records an enterprise with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for the purposes of the MSME Development Act. It is an enterprise registration.

It is not:

• a professional accreditation, certification or quality mark;
• a grant of regulatory, licensing or disciplinary authority over any profession;
• recognition of IIDA as an official, statutory or governing body for interior design in India;
• an endorsement of IIDA by the Government of India.

We are not a government or statutory body

IIDA is not a government department, a public authority, or a statutory regulator. IIDA is not recognised by, affiliated to, or accredited by the Council of Architecture (COA), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Ministry of Education, or any statutory licensing authority, and we make no claim to be. India does not currently have a statutory licensing authority for interior designers in the way that architecture is regulated by the Council of Architecture under the Architects Act, 1972.

Membership is not a licence or a qualification

IIDA membership indicates voluntary affiliation with our network and agreement to our code of conduct. Membership:

• is not a government licence or permit to practise;
• is not an academic degree, diploma or equivalent;
• is not a statutory certification of competence;
• does not replace any qualification, registration, trade licence, or approval that your state, municipal or local authority may require;
• does notentitle a member to describe themselves as “government approved”, “government certified” or “government registered”.

Members may display the IIDA membership badge only while their membership is current, and only to indicate membership of this association.

No connection with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), USA

Indian Interior Designers Association is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, a chapter of, or otherwise connected to the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) headquartered in the United States, nor to any other Indian or overseas organisation that uses the initials “IIDA”. We are a separate and independent Indian organisation that shares the acronym. Any reference on this website to “IIDA” means Indian Interior Designers Association unless we expressly state otherwise. All third-party names and marks referred to on this site remain the property of their respective owners.

Accuracy of content

Information in the Members Directoryis supplied by members themselves. Inclusion in the directory confirms membership status only. It is not a verification, endorsement, or guarantee of any member’s qualifications, competence, licensing, insurance, pricing, or the quality or outcome of their work. You should carry out your own due diligence before engaging any designer or firm. IIDA is not a party to, and accepts no liability for, any contract or dispute between a member and their client.
