Standards and conduct

Report a concern

Raise a complaint about the conduct of an IIDA member, or tell us about someone falsely claiming to be one.

Before you start

What the association can and cannot do

IIDA is a private membership association registered under the Government of India MSME / Udyam Scheme. Membership is voluntary, and the strongest sanction available to us is to remove someone from our own register. We say this plainly up front so that nobody sends us a complaint expecting a remedy we are not able to give.

The standard we measure a member against is our published Code of Conduct. It is worth a look before you write — it will tell you whether what happened is something we can act on.

We will look at

  • Conduct by a member that falls short of the IIDA Code of Conduct.
  • Anyone claiming to be an IIDA member who is not, or quoting a membership number that is not theirs.
  • Use of the IIDA name, logo or membership badge by a person or firm not entitled to use it.
  • Behaviour by a member towards other members, students or the public that brings the association into disrepute.

We cannot do

  • Recovering money, ordering refunds or awarding compensation — only a court or consumer forum can do that.
  • Deciding who is at fault in a contract, payment or project dispute.
  • Suspending or cancelling anyone's right to practise. IIDA is a membership body, not a statutory regulator, so no such power exists.
  • Matters already before a court, tribunal or the police, which we will not run in parallel.

If money has been lost

Report it to the police, or for online fraud to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in (helpline 1930). For a consumer dispute, the National Consumer Helpline is 1915. Tell us as well if a member is involved — but please do not wait for us before going to the authorities.

How it works

What happens after you report something

01

You send the report

Use the form below, or email us. Give dates, names and what you would like the association to do.

02

We acknowledge it

Within five working days we confirm receipt and tell you whether it is something the association can review.

03

The member is asked to respond

If it is in scope, we put the substance of the report to the member concerned and give them a fair chance to reply. Your report is not anonymous to them.

04

We tell you the outcome

Possible outcomes are a written caution, conditions on membership, suspension, or removal from the register. We write to you either way.

Not sure the person is a member?

Check the membership number first. It takes a moment and it often answers the question on its own.

Tell us what happened

Everything here goes to the association’s office. Please keep to facts you can support — see our Terms & Conditions.

Do not attach files here. If you have documents, say so and we will ask for them by email.

We handle reports under our Privacy Policy. Anonymous reports are accepted by email, but we usually cannot act on them without a contactable sender.

Fairness

A report is not a finding. Nobody is removed from the register or named publicly on the strength of an unanswered allegation, and a report made in bad faith — to damage a competitor, for instance — is itself a breach of the Code of Conduct. Reports are held under our Privacy Policy and shared only with the people who need to see them.
